Honoring Drew's light and spirit through giving.
Drew's Dream Playground
It all started with Drew's Dream...
The Shrewsbury Department of Public Works, Parker Road Preschool PTO, Shrewsbury Fire and Police Departments and many volunteers sponsored a fundraiser on May 18, 2013 to raise money to purchase a firetruck play structure to serve to both honor Drew’s memory and to enhance the preschool experience of the current and future students. Part of the Shrewsbury Public Schools, Parker Road Preschool is an integrated preschool dedicated to serving children with and without disabilities.
Kid’s Equipment Day was born, featuring “Drew’s Dream Touch-A-Truck," bringing hundreds of families together from the community. Many attendees had a close relationship with Drew and our family, including Parker Road Preschool students, their families, teachers, local paramedics, firefighters, police and members of the UMass Medical Center Pediatric ICU.
As phase one of the overall renovations of the Parker Road Preschool playground, “Drew’s Dream” inspired Parker Road Preschool to create a fully inclusive playground for children of all abilities in the town of Shrewsbury. The goal is for the playground to be accessible to children with special needs and mobility issues. There will be pathways to all structures and ground level interactive structures for all abilities.
This page, as well as our Facebook page, are ways to spread the smile, love and story that Drew passed along to everyone that he met.
